Regenerative Cellular Tissue
Regenerative cellular tissue, also known as stem cells, are naturally produced in the body to create and restore all of your cells. Stem cells are used to create bone, cartilage, muscle, nerve, and the other tissues of the body. At our medical clinic in the Tampa, we use regenerative cellular tissue to treat a wide range of medical conditions causing chronic pain in the body.
What Are Stem Cells?
Stem cells are your body’s initial cells. They don’t yet have one set function or purpose in the body and still have the potential to turn into any cell the body might need. As we age, we have fewer and fewer stem cells. The stem cells we do have repair parts of our body that were affected by injury or illness. But again, with age, this function diminishes. That’s why regenerative cell therapy is so helpful in healing injuries and calming painful diseases.
Types of Stem Cells
There are different types of stem cells, and they reside in different areas of the body.
Adult Stem Cells
Adults have stem cells throughout their body, standing by to help repair injuries. However, stem cells age just like the rest of the cells in our body, becoming less vigorous and fewer in number. Still, you can find bone marrow stem cells and adipose tissue stem cells (cells in fat tissues) in adults. These are the sources used for typical stem cell therapy, but the collection is painful (drilling into the femur or hip for bone marrow), and the samples may be contaminated (fat stores toxins).
Mesenchymal Stem Cells
Mesenchymal stem cells are found in Wharton’s jelly, a special fluid in an umbilical cord. Responsible tissue banks collect mesenchymal stem cells in a process known as umbilical allografts, following FDA and collection guidelines. This procedure is done after birth and does not involve even minor discomfort for the baby or the mother.
We believe that using mesenchymal stem cells gets better results for our patients than using adult stem cells. These cells are younger and more capable of cell duplication—which they need to do in order to help you heal.
The cellular tissues in younger people heal faster than those in older people, so it makes sense that younger stem cell samples speed up your recovery when injected into the site of your injury or painful condition. Further, using other types of stem cells, including bone marrow and adipose tissue cells, often involves invasive and painful procedures. While many in the Tampa Bay area offer these treatments, we don't want to further stress those who are suffering from serious, uncomfortable conditions.
Regenerative cell therapy is a treatment using mesenchymal stem cells. It is different from stem cell therapy, and we believe it delivers superior results, through all-natural pain relief, to our patients.
The conditions we treat with regenerative cell therapy include:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Disc problems
- Bone issues
- Knee pain
- Shoulder pain
- Elbow pain
- Hip pain
- Other joint pain
- Torn ligaments
- Damaged or degraded cartilage
- Damaged or degraded bone
- Plantar fasciitis
Regenerative cell therapy has such a wide range of applications because mesenchymal stem cells are highly flexible. Wherever we place mesenchymal stem cells, they take cues from their environment to turn into the cells that are damaged in that area of the body.
